Good afternoon all

We are so excited that we are finally moving forward with return to winter sports in coming weeks and cannot wait to see everyone back at the fields and courts enjoying the games they love to play.

OUR BLAZERS DEVELOPMENT TRIALS ARE BACK ON FOR THE 2020/2021 SEASON

Saturday the 27th and Sunday 28th June

The Busselton Blazers Development program is designed around the principle of developing the skills of individuals within the Association that show the potential, ability, and commitment to perform at a higher representative basketball level.

Each age division squad both boys and girls will consist of 18 players selected from the trials held.

Players that demonstrate the appropriate training ethic, attitude and commitment to the weekly squad trainings will potentially be awarded with the opportunity to represent the Association in the Regional Carnival held in the Southwest and the 2 Championship tournaments played in Perth. Currently under review is the potential for one Development team from selected squads to trial the introduction of a Development team playing in the regular BABA competition.

Please be mindful, moving forward we will be required to follow Australian Government and BWA directives surrounding COVID 19 and things could possibly differ from what is currently under planning.

Training nights for squads are an individual coach and court space decision, which will be decided after trials. Our player handbook will be published on our website in coming weeks, which will provide all the information regarding fees, proposed carnivals, and player expectations.

We are seeking coaches for our U12 girls, u15 girls and u15 boys teams. Please if anyone is interested in helping this year with our development program please contact us atbussopresident@gmail.com

Our Development team trials will be held at the GLC stadium on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of June. Due to limited opening times, trials will be 50min slots with the required 20min break between each group. Players are required to attend both days with timeslots and age restrictions for players noted above. Registration and the $5.00 registration fee will only be taken via the online registration link below which can be copied into your browser search bar.

This is mandatory for contact tracing with the link closing midnight Friday 26th. Unfortunately, no registrations can be taken on the day. We please ask you do not email the BABA secretary with expression of interest to trials as these cannot be excepted.

Absentees to the trials may be considered by each individual coach and the BABA committee. Please forward this tobussopresident@gmail.com

To participate in the Busselton Blazers Development Program for 2020/21 season all players must participate in the BABA 2020/21 season. New players to Busselton who intend to play our 2020/21 BABA season are more than welcome to register and attend the trials but must have current BWA insurance or can contactbussopresident@gmail.com for the link to purchase. All BABA 2019/20 players have current BWA insurance and do not need to purchase any.

Due to COVID regulations, limited numbers of 100 patrons (players, BABA staff and officials) are permitted inside the GLC Stadium. Unfortunately, parents and spectators will not be able to attend trials or enter the GLC Stadium whilst trials are in progress. Players are asked to please arrive 10min prior to their timeslot to sign in and receive their number from the BABA registration table at the front entrance to the GLC. Players will be taken into the stadium by the coaches and will exit the GLC stadium via the side door leading out to the car park to be met after their timeslot. Trials will be full contact between players, but a 1.5m social distancing must be maintained whilst not playing.

NO PERSON is to attend these trials if they have the following symptoms: cough, fever, sore throat, shortness of breath or have been in contact with another person who has been sick. The coach should be notified immediately if any of the above applies.

Players are to bring mouthguard, water bottle, sweat towel and correct size ball for their age group. A sanitizer station will be provided to sanitize hands and personal equipment on arrival and prior to leaving.

We thank you for your continued support and appreciate your patience whilst we navigate our way through this COVID 19 stage 3 return to community sports.
