A clinical performance from Colts Australia young gun Daisy de Morton and Rennie Meadmore has seen them lead their side to victory over their club rivals in Colts Alley-Oopsies

The Game started with 11 points inside of the first 5 minutes with Australia scoring through de Morton and Rennie Meadmore, both scoring twice each and Hannah Wilkinson keeping the Oopsies in touch with a much needed 3 pointer between the four baskets of Australia.

A little lull in play allowed both teams to feel each other out as Wilkinson slotted another 3 pointer to keep her team right in the contest. Unfortunately, that was about all the joy the team in yellow would have in the first half as Colt Australia piled on a massive 24 points to 6 including and 8-0 run only broken by another basket from Wilkinson. From that point the last 2 mins of the half belonged to de Morton who took complete control adding 4 baskets to give Australia a 34-10 lead at the Half.

The 2nd half started a lot slower by way of scoring as both teams were unable to make the most of their offensive sets. Meadmore, however was able to buck this trend by putting on 7 points, including Australia’s first 3-pointer of the night. The Margin was kept in check as Wilkinson, proved she still has her pre-injury form by adding 5 points herself to the Oopsies to keep the margin below 30 points.

Sarah Olszewski scored for the Alley-Oopsies to get her season points total started with an easy 2, as both teams started to feel the strain of the first game of the season with some tired bodies making their way up and down the court. Olszewski added another 2 points to keep te damage to a minimum as Meadmore was able to quickly reply for Australia and stop and faint hope of a comeback.

Colts Australia brought up the half century with Meadmore and de Morton both scoring to add more misery to the Oopsies as the margin continued to blow out past 30 points. Isabel Legros scored twice in quick succession to edge the margin towards 40 points. a 5th foul in the dying stages from Rachel Hutchins sent Emma Borinelli to the line where she converted 1 of the free throws to take the margin to 40 points. Australia however, not content continued with the pressure as Meadmore scored again to close out a dominate performance from Colts Australia to kickstart their 2023/24 season.
