A dominate display from former Colt turned Oiler Harry Mooney has seen him lead his Dunsborough team to victory in round 4 of the BABA Senior Men’s A Grade Competiton.

With both teams keen to assert themselves early, it was Colts player Kieran Hill who kick started the scoring for Colts before Anothony Marinovich fired back with a quick reply 3 pointer to give the Oilers the perfect start.

After a small lull in play where the defense from both sides was exceptional the floodgates opened with the game resembling a tennis match with the ball going from end to end with teams hitting the scoreboard four times each to keep the game within 3 points at all times. The game was nicely poised after about 10 minutes of basketball before Dunsborough’s Harry Mooney went BANG, BANG, BANG with back-to-back-to-back 3pointers to give the Oilers a 8 point lead. A small fightback from the young Colts brigade kept the game tight before Mooney again stepped up hitting another 2 points to stop a 6-0 run for the team in yellow. However, a Tiernan Bass 3 as well as Will Triffitt hitting the scoreboard saw the game all tied up at 23 a piece at half time.

The Second half showed why the young Colts are a team to look out for with Bass and Triffitt both scoring for Colts, before Matt Mansfield hit his first points for the Oilers with a 3 to keep the scores level. Mooney took his total to 16 points for the game with an easy 2 as Rohan Stokes, fresh from his trip back down from Perth, hit a huge shot to give Colts a 1 point lead with 12 minutes to play.

Once again the game seesawed as both teams continued to find news ways to the basket. and with 6 minutes to go and the score 38-34 in favour of Colts, the Oilers went to the man who couldn’t miss in Mooney and once again he delivered with his 4th three pointer of the game. This inspired the team from Dunsborough to lift again. They put on another 8 points before the 11-0 run of the Oilers was broken with Tiernan Bass scoring to give the Colts a sniff at victory. However, it wasn’t enough as both teams added another 4 points each before the final buzzer with the Dunsborough Oilers winning 51-43 to remain unbeaten this season.
